Dental Sedation Kintore and Inverurie

Are you an anxious dental patient? Perceiving dental treatment as a painful experience is more common than most people think. According to the British Dental Association, approximately 12% of us are believed to experience “extreme dental anxiety” and around 25% of the UK population suffer from some sort of anxiety before a visit to the dentist.

At Kintore Dental Practice, we are delighted to be able to offer intravenous sedation to our anxious patients from November 2016. Our associate dentist Binnie Smart has many years experience providing Dental Sedation working in both the hospital and general practice environment.

Intravenous Dental Sedation Kintore

With this method of conscious sedation, a sedative drug is administered into a vein in your arm or in the back of your hand. The onset of the drug is very quick and the feeling of relaxation takes over within seconds of administering IV sedation. You will forget the feelings of anxiety and not remember much about what happened under treatment. The drugs used for IV sedation are more effective than the drugs taken orally.

In order to undertake intravenous sedation your suitability for treatment must first be assessed. Somebody will need to be with you on the day of your appointment and remain with you after dental treatment for at least 24 hours. After IV sedation, you must not drive or operate any heavy machinery for at least 24 hours until the effects have worn off.

We charge £50 for your initial assessment and £150 for each Intravenous Sedation per appointment thereafter. If you would like to arrange an assessment appointment please call us on
